Introduction:

Error description: Failed to initialize this disk......

Situation 1:

After adding a brand new disk to your computer , you need to initialize it before using it. Generally, the new disk will be automatically initialized when it is partitioned with Partition Assistant. But there are a few unknown reasons leading to the error.

Situation 2:

When you convert the GPT disk(GPT protective partition) to MBR on Windows XP, you also might get the error. Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 32-bit, or Windows XP 32-bit version does not support GPT partitions. A GPT disk will be displayed as GPT protective partition in these systems, thus you could not access the data until you convert it back to MBR disk.

Solutions:

Situation 1:

You can first initialize the disk with Windows Disk Management tool manually, then retry the partition operations.

About initializing the new disk with windows tool , please open Windows Disk Management (Right click “My Computer”-->click “Manage”-->”Storage”-->”Disk Management”), then right click the disk to choose “ initialize”.

Situation 2:

Method 1: you can create the Winpe bootable media via AOMEI Partition Assistant, and then boot the XP computer from the WinPE to convert the disk to MBR with Partition Assistant. In the WinPE, the GPT disk will not be displayed as GPT protective partition.

Method 2: you can load the disk on win7/win8 computers as the slave disk, then run AOMEI Partition Assistant on win7/win8 computers to convert the disk.
