To help users better manage apps, Apple has introduced the feature to hide purchased and downloaded apps on iPhone. On the one hand, we can hide apps on Home screen to make the screen cleaner. On the other hand, we can hide apps in the purchase list so that family members will not see the apps we have purchased.

But now you want to unhide apps on iPhone, right? You may want to access them temporarily or want to delete them permanently to free up space. Whatever the reason, here in this guide, I’ll list all the practical methods about how to unhide apps on iPhone. These methods apply to all iPhone models including iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone 8, and iPhone 7.

Part 1. How to unhide apps on iPhone Home screen

There are two ways that can help you unhide apps on iPhone Home screen. If you don’t remember the name of the app, Way 2 can help you figure it out.

Way 1. Unhide apps on iPhone Home screen via App Library

Since iOS 14, there is one new App Library page on iPhone. It’s a collection of all the downloaded apps. You can go to the App Library page to find the hidden apps and add them to Home screen again.

Step 1. Go to App Library page: repeatedly swipe to the left on your home screen until you access the last page.

Step 2. Find the app you need in one of the folders. Or you can tap the search bar and type in the name of the hidden app you are searching for.

If you can't clearly remember the name of the app, just type one or two letters of the name and find the needed app from the results.

Step 3. When you find the hidden app, you can tap and hold your finger on the icon and choose Add to Home Screen option. Or you may hold down the app and slide your finger to the left to move the app to the screen you prefer.

Way 2. Unhide apps on iPhone Home screen by resetting the layout

If you don’t remember the name of the hidden app, you may choose to reset the Home screen layout to unhide apps. It will reset the home screen layout to its default state. That’s to say, you will lose the app arrangements and folders you created.

Step 1. Go to Settings app and tap General.

Step 2. Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone option.

Step 3. Tap Reset and choose Reset Home Screen Layout.

Step 4. Tap Reset Home Screen on the pop-up window to confirm.

Then the app will appear in the Purchase History. Now you can re-download the app if it is not installed on iPhone.

Bonus: Get an easy way to share data with family and friends

You used to hide certain apps probably because you didn't want others to see the purchases. Home Sharing does provide a convenient way to share items purchased by family members, but there is no privacy. If you use Home Sharing primarily to share purchased music, then you may use other methods to achieve the goal.
