Why iPhone didn’t transfer all photos?

Normally, when we got a new iPhone, we all need to transfer data from the old iPhone to the new one. However, some users like the above case reflected that not all photos transferred to new iPhone 12/13/11/X and they wonder why. The possible reasons causing the issue can be concluded as the following:

Reason 1. Insufficient space on the new iPhone

If your new iPhone is already stuffed with a lot of files and apps, the rest space may not enough for the coming photos. Then uploading pictures to it may fail, or partly fail. It is essential to check whether your new iPhone storage is full or not.

Reason 2. Unstable network connection

If you are transferring your photos through the internet, you need a stable connection to your network. If your internet is slow or not working, you may find it hard to download photos from iCloud on the old iPhone and transfer photos to the new iPhone.

Reason 3. iCloud Photo is turned off on the new iPhone

The possibility that you disable the photos feature in iCloud accidentally can also be another reason. If it is disabled, the photos after the action won’t be saved in iCloud and won’t be transferred to your new iPhone.

Reason 4. Incorrect iCloud account on the new iPhone

If your photos are stored in iCloud and you have set up your new iPhone using a new iCloud account, your photos will not be synced from your web iCloud account to your iPhone and so you won’t see any of your old iPhone photos on your new iPhone.

Reason 5. Photos are not successfully backed up to iCloud

The last reason is that the photos on your old iPhone are not successfully backed up to iCloud because your iCloud has insufficient space.

4 workarounds to “iPhone didn’t transfer all photos”

To fix “iPhone didn’t transfer all photos”, here are 4 workarounds shown below. Follow the steps to check or set up your new iPhone.

Fix 1. Check the new iPhone storage

The first thing you need to do is to check whether your new iPhone has enough storage. Go to Settings General > iPhone Storage, the iPhone storage screen stop displaying the Recommendations and Data Usage by apps like the picture shown below.

Fix 2. Reset the network connection

We have mentioned that the issue may be related to the unstable network. Therefore, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Reconnect to the network and wait for a while to see whether all your photos return to your iPhone.

Reset Network Settings

Fix 3. Check the iCloud Photo feature

If you have turned on iCloud Photos on your old iPhone, then your photos have been already uploaded to iCloud. If you have also turned on iCloud Photos on your new iPhone, then your photos will be transferred to the new iPhone automatically once you logged in to the same iCloud account to the new iPhone.

Now, go Setting > Apple ID > iCloud > Photos on your old iPhone. If it hasn’t been enabled, slide the option to green and then connect to a stable Wi-Fi network for photo sync.

Fix 4. Check the iCloud account

As we have mentioned in the last fix, only when the two iPhones are logged in to the same iCloud Account will the photos be transferred automatically between devices. Therefore, check your Settings and make sure that you have logged in with the same iCloud account that you used on your new iPhone.
