Users can now upgrade to stable version of v99
The recent stable release of Google Chrome v99 brings several Chromium enhancements. Now, Microsoft Edge browser has reached the same version number and brings a number of backend and frontend improvements.
The current stable version of Edge is 99.0.1150.30, and users can trigger the update by clicking on the three-dot menu and navigating to Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge.
What’s new in Microsoft Edge v99
For starters, users who use multiple profiles in Edge can now create a custom list of sites for each profile. When you launch a website mentioned in the custom list, Edge will automatically open it in the preferred profile.
Browsing PDF documents is also easier, as users can simply jump between pages using the page thumbnails in the left pane. Microsoft is also preparing for the upcoming release of Microsoft Edge v100 in this version, which states: "Starting with version 100, Microsoft Edge will send a three-digit version number in the User-Agent header, for example "Edg/100". Starting with Microsoft Edge 97, site owners can test this upcoming agent string by enabling the #force-major-version-to-100 experiment flag in edge://flags to ensure their User-Agent parsing logic is robust and works as expected."
There are also some improvements in the password management area. Users can utilize the PasswordManagerBlocklist policy to determine a list of domains that do not want to utilize the password manager. The autofill workflow for these domains will be disabled.
Another interesting feature is the option to set a custom master password. edge users can now define a custom string as their master password. Only if they first authenticate with this string will they be able to use the autofill feature to get credentials on the web page. The purpose of this is to prevent unauthorized users from using your saved passwords by adding another layer of security.
