Email is not only used for regular communication, but is also a common form of business correspondence these days. If you are communicating as an employee of a company, you may want to display your job title, company name or any relevant information below the subject line of your email. To do this, you will need to change the signature in your Gmail account.
How to change your Gmail signature
In Gmail, you can update your current signature to add or remove details from it. If you need multiple signatures, you can also create and save multiple email signatures.
To update your email signature on the desktop version of Gmail, use the Gmail website.
1. First open your preferred browser and launch the Gmail website. Sign in to your account on the site.
2. In the upper-right corner of Gmail, click Settings (the gear icon), and choose “See all settings” from the expanded menu.
3. In the “General” tab of the Settings page, scroll down to the “Signature” section. Then, select “Create new” (if you haven’t created one), or click the signature you want to change.
4. In the pane to the right of the signature, you will see the contents of the current signature. Click this box and edit the contents of the signature. There are several formatting options available, which are located at the bottom of the signature box.
These formatting options include text styles such as bold, italic, and underline. It is also possible to add links to your text. If desired, you can even insert an image into your signature.
5. When you're happy with your changed signature, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes”. Now your Gmail signature is now updated.
If you want to change your Gmail signature on a mobile device, such as an Android or Apple phone, the steps are much the same. You simply log into the Gmail app for mobile, open the menu and select Settings, find the account you want to change your signature for and make the change.
