Windows 10 will no longer have new features

Recently, Microsoft finally completed the mass push of Windows 10 version 21H2, and most Windows 10 users have received the update.

But unlike the 21H2 update for Windows 11, this update for Windows 10 only brings improvements in Wi-Fi security, Windows Hello for Business and Windows Subsystem for Linux, as well as fixes for existing bugs, and does not involve any new features.

According to Microsoft's official statement, in all future updates of Windows 10, no new features will be added to the system, but only maintenance on the current basis.

21H2 users can upgrade Windows 11 for free

As the most stable version of Windows 10, 20H2 has many users, and this 21H2 update brought by Microsoft is also designed to allow users who meet the hardware requirements to get a free upgrade of Windows 11 next. Users with select devices running Windows 10 version 2004 and higher can manually check for 21H2 updates via Windows Update. And devices with Windows 10 version 20H2 will soon end service and automatically update to Windows 10 version 21H2.

Microsoft will train machine learning models (AI) so that it can intelligently push new versions of Windows 10 to users in a stable manner and continue to provide a smooth update experience. This maintenance will maintain technical support until at least October 2025, during which time Microsoft will ensure that Windows 10 receives at least one major version update per year.

Microsoft also promises that it will not force any users to update to Windows 11 after the maintenance ends.
