Windows 10 KB5010415 is now available as an optional update, which provides two new features for Enterprise or Premium users. According to the changelog, you can now share cookies between Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode and Microsoft Edge. Similarly, Microsoft has added support for hot add and removal of non-volatile memory (NVMe).

This optional update also includes fixes that will be bundled in future cumulative updates, such as the upcoming March 2022 Patch Tuesday release or even the April 2022 Patch Tuesday. This is because the latest update also applies fixes that were missing in previous updates.

The update is being rolled out through Windows Update, but users can always download the offline installer for Windows 10 KB5010415 and update their systems manually by running the installer.

What's new in Windows 10 KB5010415 (Build 19044.1566)

  • For the enterprise, there are several bug fixes. For example, an issue with Windows Server 2016 that stopped responding when running Terminal Server with a specific VDI has been addressed in this update. This bug caused a regression where Windows would actively check the status of CSharedLock in rpcss.exe.
  • Windows Search has a quality issue and Microsoft is attempting to fix at least one bug with today's optional update. According to the release notes, Microsoft fixed an issue affecting Windows Search that occurred when users attempted the proximity operator feature.
  • Another bug where the wmipicmp.dll module caused a memory leak due to an error alert in System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) has been fixed. microsoft has also fixed an issue where users encountered an error message when browsing domains or organizational units.
  • Microsoft has also fixed an issue where Task Manager did not properly display startup impact values (e.g., low, medium, or high).
  • Fixes for OpenGL and GPU bugs that caused problems in certain display scenarios and prevented ShellWindows() from returning objects.
  • The Windows 10 optional update also fixes driver issues. After the update, you will no longer have problems uninstalling and reloading drivers when they use HVCI protection.

Other bug fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that affected remote desktop usage.
  • Fixed an issue with the built-in screen reader.
  • Fixed VM live migration failures.
  • Fixes an issue that caused the WebDav redirector to deadlock.

In addition to the Windows 10 cumulative update, Microsoft has also released a new Windows 11 patch (KB5010414) that includes several new features.
