Windows 11 has started to be pushed out to consumers, but the system is still in constant development and many new applications are not yet available to everyone.

So far, Microsoft has been bringing new clipboard tools, media players for Win 11, and now the new Paint is coming. Microsoft Paint has been a self-contained component of the system for decades, and has recently received a new design that will update the title toolbar and support Mica effects, just like other applications such as the Clock and Mail Calendar apps.

Windows 11 paint tool will have new design

At one point in time, Microsoft wanted to abandon the classic drawing tool and replace it with 3D drawing as part of a plan to build visual 3D content for desktop users. In the end, however, the classic Paint tool was not discontinued, and it got better with updates.

As perceived by users, the Paint application now has a new Word-like title toolbar in which many functional buttons are placed, such as Undo and Redo, and users can customize the title toolbar to add more options.

Thanks to this new design, many functions have become more convenient, such as clicking on "File" to create a new image, modify an existing one, or even print the image directly!

And now, Paint is about to be revamped again.

With the Win11 update, Microsoft has integrated the WinUI component to bring the drawing experience to a new level. The update is now available in the Insider channel and gives a new modern look to the Paint tool's "Edit Colors", "Resize and Skew" and other dialog boxes.

The new look of Paint is more in line with the design of Win11. Microsoft has used WinUI elements in the Paint tool, which is based on the Win32 framework. In addition, Microsoft has made the following changes to the drawing tool.

Fixed problems:

  • When writing on an image using input methods, the text box would move unexpectedly.
  • Some modern dialog boxes were not associated with the language of the region in countries such as the Netherlands.
  • Improved support for screen readers.

New feature:

  • Press Shift on a color block to use that color as your secondary color.
  • The new drawing tools will be rolled out to all users outside of the Windows Insider channel starting in early 2022, so stay tuned!
