How to restore system if size of original partitions changed?

The GPT disk contains a system backup of the Windows 11 system. It contains EFI, Windows and Recovery partitions. If the partitions on the disk have not changed, then everything is ok. If the size of a disk partition has changed after a backup, Backupper cannot correctly identify the target partitions and offer to restore all partitions on a single disk partition, even though the disk already has EFI, Windows, and recovery partitions. Moreover, after a standard Windows installation, there is a MSR partition between the EFI and Windows partitions. Restoring to a single partition is hardly acceptable.
What is the best way to restore the system in this situation, short of restoring the disk partitions to their original sizes?

  • @Alux, When it can't detect the original locations, you might need to manually delete EFI, Windows, and recovery partitions on the disk, and then do the restore.
Or, maybe you can try to do a disk backup for the system disk. It will always overwrite the whole disk.
